Gabrielle Benn (Savannah State) was named Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, while Fergus O’Rourke (Spring Hill)earned Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, released by the league office on Wednesday.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Gabrielle Benn, Savannah State

Savannah State newcomer Gabrielle Benn is 6-1 this season in the first court for Savannah State. This week, she picked up a big win over Drew University’s Melina Christodoulou in straight sets, 6-2 and 6-1. She also went undefeated in singles action in the SIAC Crossover, beating Clark Atlanta, Spring Hill, Tuskegee and Albany State.

Fergus went 3-1 in singles this week with wins vs St. Mary’s (TX) on No. 1 (6-1, 3-6, 1-0 [10-6]), Birmingham-Southern on No. 2 (6-4, 6-2) and Miss. College No. 1 (6-3, 6-4).
