Mississippi Valley State has first scrimmage of the year

The Delta Devils had their first full inter squad scrimmage of the season this Saturday during the team’s practice. Head football coach Vincent Dancy seemed to be cautiously optimistic about what he saw on the field. Here is what he had to say post-practice : “Overall, it wasn’t bad. We got 60-70 plays in and not too many flags. We’ve got some improving to do, but we got a lot on film to evaluate. Benedict’s Traviontae Brown named to preseason Player of Year watch list

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Benedict College senior defensive back Traviontae Brown has been named to the preseason watch list for the Black College Football Hall of Fame Deacon Jones Trophy. The 48-player list is composed of 16 players from the MEAC, 13 from the SWAC, 10 from the CIAA, eight from the SIAC, and one from a non-HBCU conference.
