Albany State linebacker Stephan Pierre and defensive back James Hawkins were selected to play in the 2023 HBCU Legacy Bowl. After winning the SIAC MVP and Defensive Player of the Year last season, Pierre followed that up with SIAC All-Conference First Team season. The Tallahassee, Florida product recorded 84 total tackles ( 58 solo), 9 tackles for loss, 5 sacks, 1 forced fumble and a 1 fumble recovery. Behind a stout defense, a strong running game and some timely completions through the air, the Albany State Golden Tams defeated the Maroon Tigers of Morehouse, 31-7 in front of a crowd of 2603 at the Albany State University Coliseum. The Albany State Golden Rams head to Atlanta to face the Maroon Tigers of Morehouse this Saturday.  Morehouse (0-8, 0-5) is seeking their first win of the season. Albany State gets key win over Savannah State to keep East Division title hopes alive

Albany State bounced back from their 24-20 defeat at the hands of Benedict at homecoming last week with a 31-20 defeat of Savannah State on Saturday.
