Madison, Wisconsin is the setting for the latest edition of sneakers being the root cause for lunacy. It is here in the capital of the Badger state, a supposed sneaker sale went very wrong. Police in Madison are looking for two teenagers that are accused of pistol-whipping and robbing another group of youths in a sneaker sale that went off the rails earlier this month.
According to Joe DeSpain, a Madison Police Department spokesman, a Waunakee teen advertised the sneakers he wished to sell on Snapchat and arranged to meet an unnamed buyer in the 3100 block of Churchill Drive.
The seller apparently brought three friends with him and met the buyers inside his vehicle. The youth then told police that the people inside the vehicle brandished firearms and told the victims to turn over “everything”. The two suspects then hit three of the youths in the head with their weapons before absconding with the sneakers.
DeSpain also said that the victims were not “seriously hurt” however one of the victims was so shaken up that he passed out while speaking to an officer. As a precaution he was taken to a local hospital.
