a Santa Clara sneaker spot was one of the targets in the latest round of smash-and-grab robberies that are occurring with more frequent regularity in the Bay Area.
Earlier in November, stores in San Francisco, Walnut Creek and South Bay were overwhelmed by thieves, and later in November Fix Kicks also felt the brunt of these brazen and brute force robberies.
According to reports, 25-35 burglars inundated the shop on the night of November 28, breaking the glass of the front windows and doors.
It was uncertain exactly how much was taken, but reportedly multiple pairs of Air Jordans valued over $1,000 were amongst the stolen merchandise. Police that arrived on scene, located in the 2000 block of El Camino Real, after being alerted , observed numerous vehicles retreating in various directions.
This was not Fix Kicks’ first encounter with burglary. Santa Clara police indicated that just five days earlier, on November 23 at approximately 1:15 am a group of 15-30 forced their way into the store and took footwear and apparel. Just as in the most recent incident, the suspects all absconded in multiple vehicles in different directions.
In a press release regarding these robberies, Santa Clara Police Chief Pat Nikolai had this to say:
As in all crimes, the Santa Clara Police Department takes these incidents very seriously. We have several potential promising leads from the initial burglary and are actively investigating all leads.
Chief Nikolai was not the only public official with something to say about these incidents. City Council member Anthony Becker took to Twitter to demand that something be done about these criminal acts.
The Santa Clara PD via their Public Information Officer, Lt. Chong Pham told sneakershoptalk.com there have been no arrest made yet, but this remains an active investigation.
