A trio of Port St. Lucien, Florida terns were accused of assaulting and stealing the sneakers off the feet of a youngster outside of a local movie theatre.
At approximately 10 pm on December 28, 2024, Port St. Lucie Police responded to a call of a robbery at an AMC movie theatre located at 1900 NW Courtyard Circle. According to the 13-year-old victim, he was approached by six teen boys as he and his girlfriend awaited the arrival of a parent to pick them up.
The boys asked him if was interested in selling his sneakers to them. When he declined, three of the youths, aged 13, 14, and 15 attacked the victim, striking him with punches and kicks. The victim was subsequently knocked to the ground, at which point the attackers took advantage of the situation and took the sneakers right off his feet.
The victim’s girlfriend told a security guard who then alerted the authorities. A witness recorded the attack and a school resource officer was able to identify the boys, leading to the three of them all being in custody by January 2 on a host of charges- robbery by sudden snatching, simple battery, and theft.
Although the alleged perpetrators are in custody, the sneakers that were the impetus for the attack have yet to be recovered.
