North Carolina A&T’s Jahnathan Lamothe named CAA Co-Player of the Week

For his recent hardwood exploits North Carolina A&T guard Jahnathan Lamothe was named CAA Co-Player of the Week. The sophomore guard averaged 24.0 points, 9 rebounds, and .5 steals per game as he helped the Aggies go 2-0 last week, notching their first consecutive wins back-to-back wins over The Citadel and Morgan State in November.  Against Campbell Lamothe scored 25 points, including a key three-pointer that put the Aggies back in the lead with under a minute to go that helped NCAT defeat the Camels, 53-50.  The Baltimore, MD native…

Hampton hoops games postponed due to inclement weather

image via Hampton Athletics The CAA announced Tuesday afternoon that a pair of Hampton basketball games will be postponed due to pending inclement weather.  The men’s basketball game between Hampton (14-13, 6-8) and Stony Brook (6-21, 2-12), which was initially scheduled to take place Thursday, February 20 at 7 pm will now take place Monday, February 24 at noon.  Hampton’s women (6-18, 2-11) were slated to take on Charleston (17-6, 8-4), Friday, February 21 at 7 pm EST was pushed back until Tuesday, February 25 at noon. Monmouth’s Madison Durr earns Oscar Robinson National Player of the Week honors

Courtesy of the CAA CAA Player of the Week Madison Durr of Monmouth has been selected as one of five Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week honorees by the USBWA (U.S. Basketball Writers Association) on Tuesday. Durr became the second Monmouth player this season to earn national recognition, joining teammate Abdi Bashir Jr., who garnered the accolade on Nov. 19. The Hawks’ guard is also the third CAA player and second in as many weeks to secure the USBWA’s weekly honor as UNCW’s Bo Montgomery captured the award on Jan. 29. CAA hands down suspension to Drexel’s Yame Butler

From the CAA: Commissioner Joe D’Antonio has issued a suspension to Drexel men’s basketball student-athlete Yame Butler for a violation of the conference’s sportsmanship policy. Butler committed a violation of the conference’s sportsmanship policy during the second half of the Dragons’ game against Northeastern on January 23. Butler will sit out the first half of Drexel’s game against Delaware on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 25).

In the Pirates’ 83-67 win over Howard in the “Battle of the Real HU”, Johnson came off the pine to score 9 points on 3-5 FG, including 2-4 from downtown, adding 1 rebound, 1 assist and a steal in just 17 minutes of action. CAA announces docket of 2024-25 men’s hoops games to appear on CBS Sports Network

CBS Sports Network will show 24 regular season conference contests and its continued coverage of the Jersey Mike’s CAA Men’s Basketball Championship’s final two days with the two semifinals and title game. Coastal Athletic Association reveals 2024-25 Men’s basketball conference opponents

Courtesy of the CAA The CAA has announced each institution’s men’s basketball conference opponents for the 2024-25 season. Teams will face each of the other 13 league members as part of an 18-game conference schedule. Each team’s slate consists of five repeat (home-and-away) opponents, four home-only opponents, and four away-only opponents to provide each team with nine home and nine road contests. Two of the five repeat opponents have been designated as “permanent opponents” to preserve regional rivalries and geographic ties. Conference games will primarily be slated for a Thursday/Saturday…
