Miami Heat ‘expressed interest’ in acquiring Russell Westbrook

Though it seemed highly unlikely six months or even six days ago, Russell Westbrook’s time with the Oklahoma City Thunder could be winding down. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Monday that the All-NBA performer  “welcomes the idea” of a possible trade this offseason” and that he and the Thunder would like this resolved sooner rather than later. The Miami Heat have shown some preliminary interest. Tim Reynolds of Associated Press reported the two teams have had discussions. However the finances could be a roadblock to bringing Brodie to South Beach. However…

Melo and Thunder reportedly looking to part ways this summer

Considering the fact that Carmelo Anthony had a horrendous season in his inaugural campaign with the Oklahoma City Thunder, it was no surprise he opted in for the final year of a contract that would pay him nearly $28 million. Paul George could sign one-plus-one deal with OKC

Since he requested a trade from the Indiana Pacers last season, it was assumed that eventually he’d end up donning the purple and gold (he’d said as much). It was thought that short of a run to the Finals or a championship, his time in Oklahoma City was a mere pit stop on his way to tinsel town. A report from Marc Stein of the New York Times, casts some doubt on that alleged forgone conclusion. Stein reports: More than one rival team has suggested to me that they expect…

Melo nixes idea of bench role with Thunder

I think it is a fair assumption to say that Carmelo Anthony’s inaugural season in OKC did not go as well as he ( and the Thunder) would have liked. Forming a “big 3” with Russell Westbrook and Paul George, Melo would be the third option and obvious adjustments would have to be made to his game. Hopes that he could revive the mythical “Olympic Melo” would be the best fitting version were never realized and what we saw was an even more inefficient player who suffered through the worst…
