Tennessee State finished the regular season on a high note with a nearly wire-to-wire 74-69 defeat of Southern Illinois.  Southern Illinois took an early 3-0 lead on Ryan Hall’s three-pointer on the Screaming Eagles and the contest’s opening possession. Following a Travis Harper II connection from downtown that knotted the game at 3, USI reclaimed the lead when Jack Campion’s layup pushed the Screaming Eagles back in front 5-3. Tennessee State women’s hoops headed to OVC Tournament after 73-64 defeat of Southern Illinois

With the potential to play in the OVC Tournament still in play, the Lady Tigers of Tennessee State were able to defeat Southern Illinois 73-64 and secure the final spot in the upcoming Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.  The opening minutes of the first quarter saw a pair of ties and five lead changes before Lyric Cole’s jumper put TSU up 8-6 at the 6:52 mark of the frame. Overcoming a very slow start and finishing with a 23-8 fourth-quarter barrage, the Tennessee State Lady Tigers were able to overcome a 17-point deficit to defeat Morehead State 72-61 to keep their OVC Tournament hopes alive.  As has been the case numerous times this season, the Lady Tigers stumbled out of the gates, shooting just 3/18 and scoring just 9 points. It was a game of runs, as Tennessee State defeated Morehead State 64-55 in a critical win that secured the Tigers a bye into the quarterfinals of the OVC Tournament.  The Eagles showed the way until a 10-0 spurt put the Tigers up 14-8 on Ahmir Langlais’ jumper at the 9:54 mark.
