Tennessee State Basketball adds three new players

Tennessee State head men’s basketball coach Brian “Penny” Collins announced the addition of three new players to the program- Maddox Bodenhamer, JC Brooks, and Josh Ogundele.

Maddox Bodenhamer

Bodenhamer is a 6-1 guard out of Nashville, TN. As a senior he averaged 15.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.4 assists, garnering 1st Team All-District honors and helping Antioch High School to a 21-9 record. He was a 1,000-point scorer at Riverdale High School ( Murfreesboro, TN) before attending AHS.

JC Brooks

“JC is a versatile forward with a high basketball IQ and feel for the game,” said Coach Collins. “He played for Larry Blount and Orangeville Prep, one of the top schools for development in the country, so I know he will come in ready to play.”

JC Brooks is a 6-10 forward from Alberta, Canada. Brooks played his last year of prep ball at Mono, Ontario, Canada’s Orangeville Prep, helping them finish with a 12-6 record en route to the OSBA Men’s Semifinals. In 2021 he was selected to play for Team Canada in the FIBA U16.

Josh Ogundele

“Really excited about the big fella Josh,” Collins echoed. “We really needed to solidify our front court and he checked every box. He is coming in with experience and ready to contribute right away.” Ogundele does have experience, as he comes to TSU after spending three seasons at Iowa, taking part in 38 games, and last year at Middle Tennessee State. He appeared in just 9 games for the Blue Raiders before an injury ended his season. Ogundele also has experience at the highest levels of basketball, having represented his country Great Britain international play in 2015-16 and 2017-18.
