In the years since its initial 2002 release, the Air Jordan 17 has been one of the models that sneaker enthusiasts have clamored for as a worthy candidate to make another retail run.
Botched releases for the “Copper” XVII+ in 2016 ( limited and an absurd 250 USD sticker price) and “Lightning” and “UNC” Lows in May and August 2024 ( needlessly limited and an even more assinine 300 USD sticker price) have only served to stir up rancor in fans of the 17 as many were unable to claim a pair.
According to zsneakrheadz, the 17 will make a return in 2026 as part of the Doernbecher Freestyle program. Beginning in 2024 the program, which is a partnership between Nike and the Oregon Health & Science University Doernbecher Children’s Hospital allows six patients from the hospital to design shoes, which are auctioned off or sold. As of October 2024, the program has raised more than $37 million for the hospital.
At this juncture no images of the Doernbecher 17 have come to light. As more information becomes available this story will be updated.
