Twelve Tennessee State athletes receive OVC Medal of Honor

A dozen Tennessee State student athletes earned the 2024-25 Ohio Valley Conference Academic Medal of Honor. Every year the Academic Medal of Honor is bestowed upon student athletes who achieve the highest GPA in a conference-sponsored sport. 

The Tennis program has five recipients, with Jonasz DziopakTaj Hibbert, Francisca Gomez Weiss coming from the men’s team and Jovana Nikolic, and Natalie Walsh representing the women’s team. 

Football players Blake GamezKyle Hicks, and Connor Ruth made the list; Aden Napier, Sampo Stahl, and Trixie Sabulao come from the mens and women’s tennis ranks, respectively. Maggie Keenan represented women’s volleyball. 

Every one of the 354 recipients of this prestigious honor earned a 4.0 grade point average. The total number of recipients represents the second-highest total in conference history, trailing the 356 honored in 2020-21.
