Hall of Famer Karl Malone turned 62 on July 24 and the NBA History X account wished the third all-time leading scorer in NBA history a happy Birthday. Many comments on the post laid into Malone for severe personal indescetions and amongst the voices of critcisim was 2023 no.1 overall pick Victor Wembanyama , who was not on board with the account celebrating The Mailman’s birthday.
The 2023 Rookie of the Year overall reposted a tweet from X user J.Strand that featured a video of Lil Rodney Sion in which the content creator called for Malone to be imprisoned.
Malone does have an impressive basketball resume that includes being a 14-time NBA All-Star, 11-time All-NBA performer, 2-time league MVP, but he does have a dark past.
When he was 20, he impregnated 13-year-old Gloria Bell. The age of consent in Louisiana is 17, making Malone’s action a clear case of statutory rape. However, the family opted not to pursue criminal charges but rather sought a paternity suit. Malone did not respond to a 1985 lawsuit in which Bell’s parents sought $200 per week in child support. He was ordered by the court to pay $125 per week but he appealed the ruling, leading to an out-of-court settlement being reached.
