Week 6 of Dr. Cavil’s Inside the HBCU Sports Lab saw no new teams enter the polls and was largely a slight reshuffling of the proverbial deck.
5.Fayetteville State Lady Broncos (16-3, 10-2)

The Lady Broncos of Fayetteville State fall a spot to No.5 in this week’s rankings. FSU split a pair of games, starting the week off with a 50-36 loss to Winston-Salem State on February 7, but bouncing back to decisively defeat Shaw 73-37 on February 9. The Lady Broncos currently sit second in the CIAA’s Southern Division, trailing Winston-Salem State by just a single game.
4. Miles Lady Golden Bears

Miles moves up a slot to fourth in this week’s rankings. The Lady Golden Bears completed an undefeated week, defeating Allen 75-61 last Saturday and beating Albany State 60-55 on Monday. The defeats of the Yellow Jackets and the Golden Rams, mark season sweeps of both Allen and Albany State.
The Lady Golden Rams return to action Saturday against Tuskegee, with tip-off scheduled for 1:00 p.m CST.
3. Edward Waters Lady Tigers (19-4, 17-3)

The Edward Waters Lady Tigers remain at No.3 in the weekly rankings. The hottest team in the SIAC, winners of 10 straight games, continued their winning ways with a perfect week. The Lady Tigers started the week with a 50-36 win over LeMoyne-Owen on February 3, followed that with a 66-32 beating of Spring Hill, and then closed the week by stomping a mudhole in Albany State and walking it dry, 89-49, on Saturday. The Lady Tigers return to the court Saturday when they hit the road to take on Savannah State; tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 PM EST.
2. Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (19-2, 10-1)

Winston-Salem State stands pat at No.2 in this week’s polls. The Lady Rams enjoyed a 2-0 week, starting with a 55-47 defeat of Virginia Union on February 4 and closing out the week with a 50-36 win over Fayetteville State in a matchup of the top two teams in the CIAA’s Southern Division. The current leaders in the CIAA South, WSSU, return to action Saturday, February 14 against Shaw at 2:00 PM EST. Winston-Salem defeated Shaw 64-54 on January 17.
1. Langston Lady Lions ( 21-2, 15-2)

As they were a week prior, the Lady Lions of Langston University find themselves perched atop Dr. Cavil’s Inside the HBCU Sports Lab Mid-Major Top 5 rankings. The hottest team in all of HBCU basketball, winners of 14 straight, continued their winning ways with another perfect week, defeating Science and Arts 71-65 on February 7 and 60-53 over Wayland Baptist on February 9. Currently sitting at the zenith of the Sooner Athletic Conference standings, the Lady Lions next hit the hardwood February 12 against the College of the Ozarks, whom they defeated 65-55 earlier in the season.
