The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has announced its track and field weekly honors, released by the league office on Tuesday.
Ed Gilbert (Albany State) and Jaylynne Williams (Kentucky State) were named this week’s men and women Track Athletes of the Week, alongside Donte Gosier (Fort Valley State) and Sydney Blackburn (Albany State) who collected this week’s men and women Field Athletes of the Week honor.
Women’s Track and Field
Track Performer of the Week – Jaylynne Williams, Kentucky State
Williams finished first place in the 100-meter hurdles with a season and personal best record of 14.99 at the Centre College Twilight Meet last weekend.
Field Performer of the Week – Sydney Blackburn, Albany State
Blackburn, a junior at Albany State, recorded her sixth consecutive first place finish in the discus with a Division II qualifying toss of 47.61 meters.
Men’s Track and Field
Track Performer of the Week – Ed Gilbert, Albany State
Albany State’s Ed Gilbert competed in the 100-meter and 200-meter dash at Life University’s Running Eagles Open last Friday. Gilbert finished second in the 200-meter dash with Division II qualifying time of 21.16. He also finished third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.62.
Field Performer of the Week – Donte Gosier, Fort Valley State
Gosier finished fourth in the long jump (6.60m) and was part of the third place 4×100 meter relay team (41.98) at the Life Universities Running Eagles Open.
