Holding off the two fastest trucks on the track in Corey Heim and Layne Riggs, Rajah Caruth was able to drive to victory in the Rackley Roofing 200 from Nashville Superspeedway.
“Those guys were breathing down my neck the whole run,” Caruth told FS1 of Heim and Riggs following the race. ” … We’ve been off this year but good to get it done tonight.”
Heim and Riggs spent most of the evening in the front of the field, with Riggs winning the first stage, while Heim won stage 2 and led 58 laps on the evening and became the first driver to lead 800 laps in a season’s first 12 races.
Caruth, who also led a race-high 61 laps, talked about how important it was to not be the racing equivalent of a one-hit wonder saying :
“It’s a big deal … to not be a one-win wonder, honestly,” said Caruth, who led a race-high 61 laps. “A lot of guys win one race and that’s it. … Now we’ve got two and we’re in the playoffs.”
With the win, Caruth has also vaulted himself into a spot in the Craftsmen Truck Series playoffs. The Winston-Salem State University alum also has etched his name in the sport’s history, becoming just the third black driver to win a NASCAR series race, joining Hall of Fame driver Wendell Scott and current Cup series driver Bubba Wallace.
It was Caruth’s second career win, with his inaugural victory coming in Las Vegas in 2024.
