Xavier University of Louisiana has pushed back its Red River Athletic Conference basketball home doubleheader against LSU-Shreveport to Wednesday (Jan. 22) because of a winter storm expected to hit south Louisiana Tuesday.
The National Weather Service forecasts for Tuesday — the original date of the doubleheader — a 90-percent chance of precipitation and a possible snow accumulation of 3-5 inches in New Orleans.
The NWS predicts for Tuesday evening a chance of snow showers before 9 o’clock, then a chance of freezing rain between 9 and midnight.
The XULA-LSUS women’s game would tip off at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Convocation Center (7900 Stroelitz St., zip 70125), followed by the men at 7:30.
The team records:
• XULA women — 18-0 overall, 15-0 RRAC (first place), ranked 21st in NAIA coaches poll.
• LSUS women — 15-3 overall, 14-1 RRAC (second place), receiving votes in NAIA coaches poll (tied for 38th).
• XULA men — 12-5 overall, 11-4 RRAC (second place).
• LSUS men — 12-7 overall, 9-6 RRAC (tied for fifth place).
