Stupid Things People Do For Sneakers: Off-duty NY cop beaten and robbed of his sneakers

Early Tuesday morning, an off-duty NYPD officer was beat up and robbed outside a bar. John Joyce, a housing officer assigned to Public Service Area 7 in the South Bronx, was leaving Mickey’s Tavern at approximately 2:15 in the morning when three men attacked him. The three men pummeled Joyce stole his sneakers and then escaped into the night. Joyce suffered a fractured eye socket and was taken to Nyack Hospital for treatment.

Florida A&M’s Isaiah Martin signs with CSM Galati

Romanian basketball team CSM Galati signed former FAMU center and alum Isaiah Martin. In the three games Martin played in the Eurobasket Summer league, considered the top international summer league, he averaged 5.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 1.0 steals per contest. In the 18 games he played for the Rattlers, Martin put up 9.4 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game and was named to the National Association of Black Coaches (NABC) NCAA D1 All-Dsitrict Team.
