ATLANTA, Ga. (January 24, 2023) – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has announced its men’s and women’s basketball Players of the Week.

For women, Jazmin Grayson (Benedict) was named Player of the Week, while Keyshuna Fair (Allen) earned Newcomer of the Week.

For men, Cameron Sembly (Allen) was named Player of the Week, alongside, Deshawn Bartley (Benedict) who earned Newcomer of the Week, released by the league office on Tuesday.

Women’s Basketball

PLAYER OF THE WEEK –  Jazmin Grayson, Benedict

Guard  |  Senior  |  Evergreen, Ala.

Grayson scored a career-high 22 points in Benedict’s 72-62 victory over Allen, giving the Lady Tigers a three-game winning streak. Grayson hit a career-best four 3-pointers. In Monday’s win over Fort Valley State, Grayson scored nine points on three 3-pointers. For the week, she averaged 15.5 points, shot 11-of-26 (.423) and made 7-of-18 (.389) 3-pointers.

NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – Keyshuna Fair, Allen| Guard  |  Junior  |  Anderson, S.C.

Fair, the junior transfer, helped Allen to a 2-1 week by totaling 38 points and averaging nearly 13 points per game. She scored double digits in each game and totaled 11 rebounds, three assists and three steals on the week along with four 3-pointers.

Men’s Basketball

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Cameron Sembly, Allen | Wing  |  Senior  |  Indianapolis, IN

Senior wing Cameron Sembly led the Jackets on the week as he posted a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds with two blocks in the 67-60 loss to Benedict on Saturday. He also scored seven points with three boards in the loss to Albany State. He averaged 11 points and 7.5 rebounds on the week.

NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – Deshawn Bartley, Benedict | Guard  |  Junior  |  Ft. Lauderdale, FL

Bartley averaged 14 points and 3.5 assists in Benedict’s two wins on the week. The transfer from Columbia College scored a season-high 14 points and dished out five assists in Benedict’s 80-60 victory over Fort Valley State. He followed that with another 14-point effort with two assists and a steal in a 67-60 victory over Allen. Barley made 17-of-20 (.850) from the free-throw line.
