An initial look at the “Melo” Air Jordan 12

The Melo 12 started its life off as a Player Exclusive for then-Denver Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony. A well-received retail version debuted in 2004 that lacked any Carmelo Anthony-specific details.

They returned in 2016 but in an inextricably confounding decision, Jordan Brand opted to make this iteration a kids-exclusive with gold top eyestays that were more aligned with Melo’s 2004 PE.

After 21 years in cold storage, they will return in 2025; initial images have emerged and they appear to be a fairly accurate rendition of its 2004 progenitor, featuring a white ribbed upper overlaid with lizard print mudguards at the sides. Plastic tabs on the aforementioned overlays read “JORDAN” on the lateral side. University blue shows up at the inner, and rear heel pull tabs that feature a Jumpman at the top and reads “JORDAN QUALITY INSPIRED BY THE GREATEST PLAYER EVER.” The same hue also can be seen at the tongue, atop a Jumpman is perched and reads “TWO3.”

Underneath the aforementioned upper resides a white midsole and a university blue rubber outsole with white herringbone traction sections.

As it currently stands, the “Melo” Air Jordan 12 is set to begin its latest retail voyage on May 17.
