MEAC announces Men’s Basketballers of the Week

Howard’s freshman guard Blake Harper was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player and Rookie of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola. Norfolk State senior forward Kuluel Mading earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Harper (G, 6-5, Fr., Washington, D.C.) tallied 35 points in the Bison’s overtime 80-79 loss to Hampton. He shot an impressive 20-of-22 from the free throw line while knocking back 7-of-15 shots from the field. Harper added three rebounds, three assists and one steal.

Mading (F, 6-11, Sr., High Point, N.C.) registered seven rebounds, three blocks, one steal and one assist in the Spartans overtime victory over South Carolina State. Mading contributed five points in the win.

Other Top Performers

  • Toby Nnadozie (CSU) posted 21 points, four rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block in the Eagles loss to Delaware State.
  • Martaz Robinson (DSU) totaled 19 points with three rebounds, five assists and two steals while shooting 3-of-3 from three-point range and 4-of-4 from the charity stripe.
  • Evan Johnson (UMES) registered 25 points, six rebounds, three assists and one steal in the loss to Morgan State.
  • Will Thomas (MSU) tallied 24 points, six rebounds, three assists and one steal in the victory over Maryland Eastern Shore.
  • Terrance Jones (NSU) put up 20 points, three rebounds and two steals for the Spartans in the overtime victory over South Carolina State.
