A car was used as a battering ram in a brazen late December robbery of a Fresno, California sneaker store. Surveillance video captured at least five thieves scurrying about after they used a vehicle to smash through the front of Drip2Drip.
“A lot of individuals got off,” owner Roman Gonzales said. “They came in with the intent to steal a lot of inventory.”
Despite their numbers, It appears the damage the crooks did to the store far exceeded the value of the I’ll Gotten goods. Mr. Gonzalez estimated the damage to the store was in the thousands, while the value of merchandise taken was in the hundreds.
“It looks like they made away with a backpack and maybe a fanny pack,” he said. “They also made away with items that I give away to the local community. They’re not expensive items, but they’re heartwarming/felt items for the teenagers that come around randomly.”
Having been hit for the second time in the last 13 months, measures taken by the store seemed to mitigate the amount of merchandise lost. These measures included displaying only one shoe, and the register being left open in a line of sight from the window to show it contains no, cash.
The second Drip2Drip robbery came amidst a rash of retail robberies that included a Nike store as well as a T-mobile store where a vehicle was also used to smash through the front of the edifice.
Undeterred Mr. Gonzales said he would implement additional security measures in the hopes of averting future incidents.
“It’s unfortunate, he said. “There are other ways and means to make legitimate money.
