Tennessee State University Head Football Coach Eddie George has accepted a new head coaching position with Bowling Green State University.

During his four-year tenure, Coach George made a tremendous impact in helping to rebuild, reshape, and restore Tennessee State Football to national prominence. Last season the Heisman winner led the Tigers to their best record in years, finishing 9-4 overall and 6-2 in the conference.

“On behalf of Tennessee State University, I wish Coach Eddie George and his family the best as they pursue their next chapter. His passion and relentless commitment to developing student-athletes and providing a first-class experience have been invaluable,” said Mikki Allen, TSU Director of Athletics.

“As we move forward, I am excited and focused on attracting a top-tier leader who will build on the solid foundation Coach George has laid and lead us to even greater achievements.”

Director of Athletics Mikki Allen will assume Interim Head Coach responsibilities until a new head coach is announced. He will oversee football operations and lead the efforts to find a new head coach. “Our search for a new head coach is underway, and we’ve seen significant interest from elite coaches eager to be a part of the Tennessee State University family,” said Allen.

Interim President Dwayne Tucker added, “I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to Coach George for his exceptional leadership in guiding our historic program back to championship-level success.

The university is grateful to our alumni, fans, and supporters for their continued dedication to our program.
