Norfolk State still has not answered quarterback question

Through their first two games redshirt sophomore Israel Carter has gotten the start but has been spelled by graduate student Otto Kuhns in both contests.

Headed into their matchup with Rutgers on Saturday the decision on who is QB1 seemingly has yet to be settled. Asked if he had settled on a quarterback on this week’s MEAC Football Coaches teleconference, Coach Vick had this to say:

“Yeah, we haven’t made a decision as of yet. We still got to tomorrow to decide, but we want to go back and evaluate everything, watch the film, sit down with both of the quarterbacks, and talk it through. [We] got to do what a best for the team and what makes the most sense and trying to get a feel for where they at with everything from a comfort level standpoint. Going into the third game of the season, this is where you start to try to create an identity for the team. I think it’s important right now for our guys to know what direction we [are] going in and [the] structure we are trying to create. So, yeah we have to evaluate that. It’s a good problem to have and so I’m going to make sure that we collectively make the best decision possible.”

This season Israel Carter has completed 13 of his 21 pass attempts for 96 yards.

Otto Kuhns has connected on 32 of 47 passes for 395 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The Spartans face Rutgers on Saturday at 3:30 pm EST. The Scarlet Knights hammered NSU 63-13 in their last meeting, September 5, 2015.
