MONDAY MAGIC
Towson started week four with a 62-55 win and handed Rhode Island its second loss of the season. Dylan Williamson unloaded 25 points in the victory, draining five of his 10 makes from distance. Tyler Tejada and Jack Doumbia Jr. each finished in double figures with 16 and 15 points, respectively. The win also marked a top-100 KenPom win for the Tigers.
William & Mary also picked up a 74-63 wire-to-wire win on Monday, taking down UTEP at the Jacksonville Invitational. Kyle Pulliam and Reese Miller notched 16-point efforts in the victory. The Tribe shot 49.1% from the floor and 60.0% from inside the arc.
Charleston earned a third-place finish at Paradise Jam with a 78-59 routing of Evansville. Freshman Martin Kalu unleashed 21 points on 5-of-10 shooting from distance to go with seven boards. Connor Hickman produced a 16-point, eight-rebound showing. Chol Machot produced 15 points, seven boards, two steals and a pair of blocks.
Elon dominated former SoCon rival Appalachian State on Monday, logging its largest road win since moving up to NCAA Division I with an 88-53 victory. Chandler Cuthrell posted a 23-point, 11-board showing while shooting 7-of-11 from the floor and 9-of-11 at the line. Randall Pettus II added 19 points, seven boards and four steals, while Bryson Cokley notched career highs with 18 points and nine rebounds off the bench.
TUESDAYS TAP
A six-game slate is on tap for Tuesday, starting with an 11 a.m. showdown between Stony Brook and Bethune-Cookman on BallerTV.
Towson will look to remain in the winner’s bracket of the Terry’s Chocolate ESPN Events Invitational when it takes on Liberty at noon on ESPN2. Tuesday will mark just the second all-time meeting between the two schools. Liberty is ranked No. 3 in the CollegeInsider.com’s Mid-Major Top 25 poll and No. 1 in the Field of 68’s Top 25 Mid-Major Poll.
Drexel will open the night session with a 6 p.m.contest at Morgan State. Tuesday marks the Dragons’ first meeting against the Bears since 1999.
William & Mary will look to finish on top at the Jacksonville Invitational when it faces Abilene Christian for the first time in program history in a 6:30 p.m. showdown on Pass Tha Ball.
Hampton will look to take down UMES on the road when the two teams link up at 7 p.m. on Delmarva Sports Network. The Pirates are 25-5 all-time against the Hawks.
Campbell heads to Winston-Salem, N.C., to face ACC foe Wake Forest in a 7 p.m. tilt on ACCNX. The Camels will look to secure their first win over the Demon Deacons.
