“College Blue” Air Jordan XVII Returns With Briefcase Packaging, $350 Price Tag

The long-awaited return of the Air Jordan XVII is shaping up to be one of the most polarizing retro drops in recent memory—and now we know it’s coming with all the bells and whistles.

According to emerging details, the “College Blue” XVII will not only make its long-overdue comeback in 2027, but it will also arrive in its original briefcase packaging, carrying a hefty $350 retail price tag.

When the model first debuted in 2002, Michael Jordan and Jordan Brand pushed boundaries with what a signature sneaker could represent. The XVII wasn’t just footwear—it was a luxury experience. Packaged in a sleek, metal briefcase and accompanied by a CD-ROM detailing the design inspiration, the silhouette stood as one of the most ambitious releases in the brand’s history.

Now, over two decades later, Jordan Brand appears committed to delivering that same elevated experience for a new generation.

The “College Blue” colorway holds particular significance, as it draws from Jordan’s roots and features a clean white leather upper accented by hits of college blue. Originally worn during his time with the Washington Wizards, the XVII represented a transitional chapter in Jordan’s career—one that blended legacy with a forward-thinking approach to performance and design.

By including the briefcase packaging, this upcoming retro goes beyond nostalgia. It reintroduces the XVII in its truest form, offering both longtime collectors and newer enthusiasts a chance to experience the model as it was originally intended.

Of course, that authenticity comes at a cost. They will carry a bloated $350 MSRP, the “College Blue” XVII will sit at the higher end of Jordan Brand’s pricing spectrum.

This inflated price points lends many to think these may be limited, as was the case with the “UNC” and “Lightning” lows, releases that were derided for both their $300 sticker price as well as their contracted production numbers.

The anticipation that has been brewing surrounding the “College Blue” XVII’s return could be dampered by the price and the potential quantity.

Expect more details, including official images and a confirmed release date, to surface as 2027 approaches.
