Former NBA guard Terry Rozier is now facing two additional federal charges after prosecutors allege he accepted a $100,000 bribe to manipulate his performance during a 2023 game while with the Charlotte Hornets.
According to investigators, Rozier allegedly agreed to leave the March 23, 2023 matchup early under the guise of injury so bettors could cash in on prop bets tied to his stat lines. Prosecutors claim gamblers placed over $250K in wagers connected to the scheme.
Federal authorities say Rozier failed to stay under all targeted betting lines, which reportedly reduced the payout from $100K to around $70K.
Rozier has denied all allegations and pleaded not guilty. His attorney blasted the updated indictment, saying prosecutors are “trying to make something stick.”
The case is part of the growing federal investigation into alleged gambling corruption tied to professional basketball.
