Angel Reese Goes Back-to-Back as WNBA Player of the Week After Another Dominant Rebounding Stretch

Angel Reese is on a roll.

The Atlanta Dream star has been named the WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week for Week 14, earning the honor for the second consecutive week as she continues to dominate the boards during her first season in Atlanta.

Reese averaged an eye-popping 14.0 points, 17.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game during the award period. She began the week with a 16-point, 16 rebound effort in a 101-83 loss to Portland on August 28 and then chasing that with 15 points and 11 boards in a 89-81 win over Minnesota on August 30.

Her massive rebounding numbers headline a stretch in which Reese has continued to establish herself as a force in the paint. She also made history during the week by recording 26 rebounds against the Los Angeles Sparks, breaking the WNBA’s single-game rebounding record.

This marks the first time in Reese’s career that she has won Player of the Week honors in consecutive weeks, adding another accomplishment to an already impressive 2026 campaign.

On the season, the three-time All-Star is averaging a career-high 16.1 points and a league-leading 12.4 rebounds per contest.

Meanwhile, Golden State Valkyries guard Veronica Burton earned Western Conference Player of the Week honors after averaging 11.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 8.8 assists per game.

Burton helped Golden State to an undefeated week during the award timeframe. Her performances include 14 points and 9 assists against the Lynx, 12 points and 7 assists versus Connecticut, an 8 point, 13 dime effort against the Liberty and closing out the week with 11 points and 6 assists against Portland.

This season the 2025 Most Improved Player has averaged a career-high 12.3 points per game to go along with 5.8 assists and 3.6 rebounds.
