South Carolina State is moving up the national rankings.
The Bulldogs have climbed to No. 20 in the latest AFCA FCS Coaches Poll following their impressive 31-13 victory over Florida A&M in the Orange Blossom Classic.
SC State improved to 2-0 with the win, continuing what has been an impressive start for the defending HBCU national champions. (NCAA.com)
The Bulldogs controlled the Orange Blossom Classic from the line of scrimmage, piling up 479 yards of total offense, including 292 rushing yards, while holding FAMU to just 161 total yards and minus-1 rushing yard. (Clemson Athletics)
Running back Mason Pickett-Hicks was the offensive star, exploding for 210 yards and two touchdowns on only 17 carries. His performance included touchdown runs of 58 and 32 yards.
SC State’s defense was just as impressive, recording five sacks and 15 tackles for loss while preventing the Rattlers from scoring an offensive touchdown. (Clemson Athletics)
The victory also extended the Bulldogs’ winning streak to 11 consecutive games dating back to last season, further establishing SC State as one of the premier programs in the FCS. (HBCU Sports)
Now sitting at No. 20 nationally, South Carolina State has another opportunity to build its résumé when it returns home to face Virginia State on Sept. 12.
The Bulldogs aren’t simply defending their HBCU crown—they’re making it clear that they’re aiming for another run at the top of the FCS.
