Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla has cut ties with Life Surge and will no longer participate in the organization’s scheduled October event, according to the Boston Globe.
Mazzulla was scheduled to appear at Life Surge’s Oct. 17 event in Hartford, Connecticut, but told the Globe that he informed the organization he would no longer attend. He also asked Life Surge to remove his image from its website.
The move follows an investigation by Pablo Torre and Kiera Butler that raised allegations of predatory financial practices surrounding Life Surge’s faith-based events. According to reporting cited by the Globe and AP, attendees were allegedly encouraged to pursue expensive financial education and mentorship programs, with some packages reaching tens of thousands of dollars. Life Surge has denied wrongdoing.
Mazzulla previously spoke at a Life Surge event in Portland, Maine, in September 2025.
“I’m always looking for partnerships to be able to share my faith,” Mazzulla told the Globe. “…when this comes out, you take your stand and move forward.”
Life Surge’s website still lists its Oct. 17 Hartford event among its upcoming events, although its current speaker page may not yet reflect Mazzulla’s decision.
