Giannis Antetokounmpo is willing to take pictures with fans, but he says there’s a line that shouldn’t be crossed when it comes to his children.
The NBA superstar recalled an uncomfortable encounter at an airport after noticing a woman zooming in on his kids and taking pictures of them while the family waited in the baggage claim area.
According to Giannis, he politely asked the woman to stop.
“I was like, ‘Excuse me, like, please don’t do that.’”
The woman reportedly questioned why he had a problem with it because he was a public figure.
Giannis explained that he understood the attention that comes with being an NBA star, but he drew a clear distinction between himself and his children.
“You can take pictures of me, but not them,” he recalled telling her.
Her response reportedly left him stunned.
“No, this is the life you chose.”
The two-time NBA MVP acknowledged that this type of encounter was extremely rare for him, but the experience highlights a broader conversation about celebrity, privacy and boundaries.
Being a professional athlete means living under the spotlight, but does that mean family members—especially children—should have to accept the same level of public attention?
Giannis’ story raises an important question about where fandom ends and personal boundaries begin.
What do you think? Should fans respect NBA players’ privacy when they’re with their families, or does being a public figure come with that territory?
