INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Fever star Aliyah Boston has undergone successful surgery to repair the lateral meniscus in her right knee, giving the four-time WNBA All-Star an opportunity to begin her offseason rehabilitation.
The Fever announced Thursday, October 15, that Boston underwent a right knee arthroscopy on Wednesday. The procedure was performed by Dr. Corey Kendall at OrthoIndy.
According to the team, Boston will begin rehabilitation with Indiana’s medical and performance staff. The Fever have not announced a timetable for her return, and further updates will be provided as they become available.
Aliyah Boston’s Injury and Recovery
Boston’s knee injury is particularly noteworthy following a productive 2026 campaign. The former No. 1 overall pick continued to contribute for Indiana during the regular season and playoffs.
The 24-year-old center-forward appeared in 40 of Indiana’s 44 regular-season games, averaging 16.1 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. She elevated her scoring during the playoffs, averaging 19.7 points in the Fever’s first-round series against the Las Vegas Aces.
Those numbers underscore Boston’s importance to Indiana on both ends of the floor. Her interior scoring, rebounding and passing make her a central piece of the Fever’s frontcourt.
The surgery also provides an important next step in addressing the knee issue as Boston enters the offseason.
What Does This Mean for the Indiana Fever?
Boston’s rehabilitation will be one of the storylines to monitor as Indiana prepares for the 2027 WNBA season.
Her ability to score around the basket, secure rebounds and facilitate offense from the post makes her a valuable part of the Fever’s lineup. She also gives Indiana an important interior presence alongside its perimeter talent.
For now, however, it is too early to draw conclusions about her availability for the next season. The team has not provided an official recovery timeline, and her progress through rehabilitation will determine the next milestones.
Fever fans will be watching for updates as Boston works toward returning to the court.
A Strong Career Continues
Boston entered the WNBA as the first overall selection in the 2023 draft and earned Rookie of the Year honors in her debut season. She has since established herself as one of Indiana’s foundational players, earning four consecutive All-Star selections from 2023 through 2026.
She also helped the United States win the women’s FIBA World Cup in September 2026, adding another milestone to her basketball résumé.
With surgery now completed, the focus shifts to recovery and preparation for the next chapter of her career.
