Portland Trail Blazers guard Ja Morant will miss at least four weeks after suffering a Grade 2 strain in his left hamstring, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Morant’s injury is a significant setback for Portland, which will be without one of its primary playmakers for at least the next month as he begins his recovery.
The injury comes after Morant exited Thursday night’s 124-103 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, his former team. He finished the contest with 14 points, two rebounds and three assists in 23 minutes.
Ja Morant’s 2026-27 Season Statistics
Through four games this season, Morant was averaging:
- 15.8 points per game
- 2.5 rebounds per game
- 5.5 assists per game
- 25.9 minutes per game
- 1.5 three-pointers made per game
- 1.0 steal per game
Morant recorded a season-high 23 points against the Los Angeles Lakers on October 27 before posting 14 points against Memphis.
Although his early-season numbers reflect a limited four-game sample, his scoring and playmaking remain important pieces of Portland’s backcourt.
A New Chapter in Portland Put on Hold
Morant was traded to Portland during the offseason after spending the first seven seasons of his NBA career with Memphis.
Thursday’s matchup marked his first meeting against the Grizzlies since the trade. Unfortunately, his return to Memphis ended early, and the hamstring injury will now force him to the sidelines.
The Trail Blazers will have to adjust their backcourt rotation and offensive approach while Morant works toward returning to the court.
How much will Ja Morant’s absence impact the Portland Trail Blazers over the next four weeks?
