The Albany State University Golden Rams baseball team defeated the Edward Waters Tigers (9-2) in game #1 of their 3-game series on Thursday, April 28. The Golden Rams improved to 26-11 (24-5 in the SIAC) while the Tigers fell to 23-23. The Golden Rams improved to (12-6) on the road. The first pitch in game #2 is scheduled for 1:00 pm on Friday, April 29.
The Golden Rams broke open a scoreless game by scoring 4 runs in the Top of the 2nd inning. Fisher hit a 3-run homer to make it (3-0). Karn scored an unearned run to make it (4-0) when Hernandez reached on an error.
Edward Waters scored in the bottom of the 2nd inning when Laro hit a home run.
In the 3rd inning, Bell scored to make it (5-1) when Fisher singled.
In the 4th inning, Hernandez scored when Bell singled to make it (6-1).
The Golden Rams increased the lead to (7-1) in the 5th inning when Karn singled to score Thomas.
The Golden Rams scored their final 2 runs in the game when Lloyd and Ross scored in the 6th inning.
The Golden Rams finished the game with 9 runs, 13 hits and 1 error. The Tigers finished with 2 runs, 8 hits and 5 errors.
Tyler Bullock (5-1) was the winning pitcher for the Golden Rams while Davila (2-5) was the losing pitcher for the Tigers.
