Albany State’s Landon Kiefer named D-II Nat’l Freshman Pitcher of the Year

Courtesy of Dr. Earnest Brown, Albany State Athletics standout Landon Kiefer was named the 2023 Division II National Freshman Pitcher of the Year.  Kiefer finished the season with a (9-2) record and a 2.06 ERA.  Kiefer also had 3 complete games and led the Golden Rams with 76 strike outs. “Kiefer probably flew under the radar playing for the Golden Rams, but stacking his stats up against other freshmen, there were few better. Albany State baseball sweeps Spring Hill, secures #1 seed in SIAC tourney

Albany State to take on Kentucky State in season’s final home series

This weekend the Albany State baseball team ( 27-8, 24-2 ) will play host to the Throughbreds of Kentucky State (17-17, 15-9) for their final home series of the season. The three game series will start with a doubleheader on Saturday, with the first pitch scheduled for 1 PM EST. The Golden Rams will celebrate Senior Day before the first game of the twin billing. It was a tough day on the diamond for Albany State baseball, as they took a 13-3 donkey-kicking from the Warhawks of Auburn University Wednesday night at the AUM Baseball Complex in Montgomery, Alabama. The Golden Rams found themselves in a 6-0 hole after just one inning of play in a frame that saw them give up the first run of the game before the Warhawks got their first hit of the night, as four of the first AUM batters reached base via walks.
