The ASU Golden Rams baseball team kicked off their SIAC campaign in impressive fashion, securing a clean sweep against Lemoyne-Owen College (0-3, 0-3 SIAC) over the weekend.

Head Coach Scot Hemmings expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, stating, “I was extremely pleased with a lot of the things we did this weekend. I think we need to clean up a few areas such as situational hitting and putting hitters away with two strikes, but that will come the more we play. We have nine games over the next 12 days against great competition, so we do not have much time to fix this before a tough weekend series against Miles this weekend.”

In a dominant display during game one, the Golden Rams (4-2, 3-0 SIAC) cruised to a 15-3 victory. Luke Addison showcased his prowess at the plate, going three for three and driving in four runs, while Brady Davisdelivered a stellar performance on the mound, tallying six strikeouts in four innings of work.

Game two saw the Golden Rams’ offense come alive with an explosive 20-0 win. With an impressive 16 hits and no strikeouts, the team displayed exceptional batting prowess. Pitcher Landon Kiefer commanded the mound, striking out eight of the 15 batters he faced and keeping the opposition hitless and scoreless.

The final game of the series continued the Golden Rams’ dominance as they secured a 15-4 victory. Andrew McBrideCalvin Baker, and Tyler Bullock showcased their pitching talents, with McBride ultimately credited with the win.

Looking ahead, the Golden Rams are set to face Thomas University on Wednesday, February 21st, with the first pitch scheduled for 5 pm at the ASU West Campus Baseball Field.

“I was proud of our effort as the guys played hard and competed all weekend,” said Hemmings.
