This past Saturday night Coach Hemmings was presented a check from the Atlanta 400 Baseball Fan Club (formerly Braves 400 Fan Club) in the amount of $1500.00. The donation was a part of the Phil Niekro scholarship and is given annually to two college baseball programs. This year’s award went to Albany State University and Oglethorpe University. The checks were presented at the 400 Baseball Club’s annual Gameboree. The evening begins with a silent auction followed by a dinner, where the 400-fan club gives away various awards to different individuals throughout the Atlanta Braves organization. Also, there are keynote speakers and Hall of Fame coach Leo Mazzone was the MC for the evening. Coach Scot Hemmings and his family were in attendance for the check presentation. “I am honored and humbled for our program to be the recipient of this year’s award. The Atlanta 400 was so gracious to give ASU baseball the Phil Niekro scholarship award. This will go a long way to help finish off our recruiting class. My family and I were welcomed by the 400 club, and they showed us wonderful hospitality. It was an amazing evening and something we will remember for the rest of our lives.”
