St. Thomas, USVI – The Albany State Golden Rams closed out the YES USVI Basketball Classic on a high note with a 60-49 victory over Tuskegee University on December 14. With the win, the Golden Rams improved to 5-4 overall, while the Golden Tigers fell to 4-6. This victory also marks Albany State’s second win over Tuskegee this season, having previously defeated the Golden Tigers 66-60 on November 13.
The Golden Rams controlled the game, leading 31-22 at halftime. Albany’s defense was the key to victory, holding Tuskegee to just 28.9% shooting from the field and limiting them to one made three-pointer in the contest.
Shakur Poteat and G’Shan Aldridge paced the Golden Rams with 13 points each. Poteat added five rebounds and five assists, while Aldridge was nearly flawless at the free-throw line, going 7-for-8. Khimani Hopkinson made a significant impact off the bench, scoring 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting and pulling down four rebounds.
Tuskegee’s Kevin Sesberry led all scorers with 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds, but the Golden Tigers struggled offensively, making just 11 field goals in the game. Albany State capitalized on Tuskegee’s turnovers, scoring 15 points off their mistakes.

The Golden Rams will take a brief break before returning to action on Wednesday, December 18, when they face in-state rival Georgia College in Milledgeville, GA. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM as Albany State looks to carry this momentum into their next matchup.
