Albany State goes down to Miles, 62-59

Albany State was unable to hold off a second half surge from Miles as the Golden Rams fell to the Golden Bears 62-59.

MIles came out strong, taking an early 7-0 lead , Albany State woudl battle back to take a brief lead at 12-11 on a Terin Wofford jumpshot. The teams would tie at 13 on a jumper from Miles’ Garrick Baines. Miles jumped back in front at 16-13 on a three-pointer from Baines. with 8:39 left in the half. Albany State outscored Miles 15-6 over the final 8 minutes of the half to take a 28-22 halftime lead.

In the second half Miles found their shooting eye, knocking down 58.3% of their shot attemps, which powered them to a 40-point half. The Albany State offense, on the other hand, stumbled in the second half, shooting just 39.3% ( 11-28) from the floor as they scored just 31 points. As the second half saw 6 ties and 8 lead changes, Albany State could not make enough shots or get critical stops they needed in order to reclaim control of the game.

Maurice Dickson led three Albany State player in double figures with 16 points, Terin Wofford and Travis Baker each chipped in 11 points with Wofford adding 3 blocks.

With the loss, Albany State falls to 2-11 overall and 2-5 in the SIAC. The Golden Rams will look to get another in the win column when they hit the road to take on Edward Waters on January 7. Tip-off for that matchup is scheduled for 3:30 PM CST.
