The Albany State Golden Rams and the Southern Wesleyan Warriors split on Saturday when the teams played a doubleheader at the ASU West Campus Softball Complex. With the split, the Golden Rams are now (1-1) overall to start the season.
In game 1, the Golden Rams were beaten (3-8) with Trista Murphy picking up her first loss of the season.
The Golden were down (0-5) going 5th, Jasmine Russell would score the 1st run of the game for the Golden Rams with Keyatta Ayer and Madison Hurt adding two more to make the score (3-5) but the Golden Rams could not muster any more runs and ended being beaten (3-8).
In game 2, The Golden Rams bats would come alive as the Goldens Rams would defeat the Warriors (16-4) with Kaliyah Smith picking up her first win of the season.
The Golden Rams’ skills were on display as they scored 16 runs and got 20 hits during the second game.
Romona Mcleod would lead the team with 4 RBIs and 4 Hits. Multiple players had 3 Runs which included Romona Mcleod, Morgan Brown, Kaliyah Smith, and Ty’Janae Brown.
The Golden Rams look forward to Friday, February 9th as they will host Montreat College at the West Campus Softball Field with the Doubleheader games starting at 1 pm and 3 pm.
