Albany State women’s hoops loses

The Albany State Golden Rams women’s basketball team was defeated (64-58) by the Georgia College & State Bobcats on Thursday, December 1, at The Jones Brothers Health, Physical Education and Recreation Complex on the ASU East Campus.  With the loss, the Golden Rams fell to (3-4) overall and (1-1) in the SIAC.  The Bobcats improved to (7-1) overall and (0-0) in the Peach Belt Conference. 
 
The Golden Rams played without their top two leading scorers, Juanisha Black and Kashay Hankerson, who are out indefinitely with injuries.  The Golden Rams really missed their dynamic duo.  Black is averaging 11.3 ppg and 10.2 rpg.  Kashay Hankerson is averaging 10.8 ppg.
 
The Golden Rams led (16-13) at the end of the 1st quarter.  The Golden Rams also led (31-28) at the half.  At the end of the 3rd quarter, the Golden Rams led (43-42).  The teams exchanged leads several times in the final stanza.  But, the Bobcats made several key plays down the stretch to defeat the Golden Rams (64-58).
 
Kayla Milner was the lone Golden Rams player in double figures.  Milner finished with 11 points and 2 assists in 35 minutes.  Monique ChristianKierstyn Milner and Chelsea Hillcontributed with 9 points each.
 
Myra Strickland led the Bobcats with 16 points.  Alexa Geary finished with 13 points and 4 rebounds.  Harper Vick contributed with 13 points and 7 rebounds.
