Tennessee State redshirt senior defensive back Jalen McClendon has entered the transfer portal.
McClendon made the announcement via a post on X that reads in part,”I would also like to thank Coach Eddie George, Coach Fish and Coach Nut and the rest of the coaching staff for believing in me and giving me the ability to carry this team on my shoulders.”
In the 2024 season, McClendon appeared in 14 contests, recording 66 tackles (56 solo, 10 assisted) 1 tackle for loss, 19 passes defended, and 1 interception, all while playing the last seven games of the season one healthy arm after suffering an injury against Lindenwood on October 5.
His on-field exploits earned the Tampa, Florida native All-Big South- OVC Second Team honors, as well as being named a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award, which goes to FCS Division I Football’s National Player of the Year.
