Last night during the Los Angeles Sky and Chicago Sky matchup, the Sky’s Rebecca Allen and Rickea Jackson of the Sparks were battling for position on a rebound and Jackson took exception to the level of physicality Allen brought on the play. Words were exchanged between the two leading Angel Reese to step in an attempt to difuse the situation.
This led to words exchanged between Jackson and Reese leading to Jackson pushing Reese’s hand away as she appeared to try and separate the players.
Ultimately everyone was separated with no further incident.
It must have been a slow news day at Total Pro Sports because they attempted to sensationalize what is otherwise a non-story. While we won’t blame the writer, as we do not know the degree or if he had any input or control of the title, the platform will not get such a pass. The article in question was titled “Angel Reese & Rickea Jackson Started Throwing Hands On The Court During Heated Altercation At Sky-Sparks Game”, which frankly is not an embellishment of the events but an outright lie.
It is this type of deception and clickbait “journalism” that has and continues to erode the trust of not only sports media, but the media in general.
