Few topics generate more discussion among basketball fans than all-time NBA rankings, and Bam Adebayo has added fuel to the fire with his latest list.
The Miami Heat star recently shared his personal top five NBA players of all time and Adebayo’s list included:
- Michael Jordan
- Kobe Bryant
- Stephen Curry
- Kevin Durant
- Tim Duncan
One name conspicuous by its absence was none other than LeBron James a fact that has not gone unnoticed by the most sychophantic elements of his large fanbase.
The ranking, first shared by The Heat Central, quickly made the rounds on social media, with fans split over the omission of the NBA’s all-time leading scorer.
James’ résumé is among the most decorated in league history. The four-time NBA champion and four-time MVP has spent more than two decades rewriting the record books while earning 21 All-Star selectionleague’s all-time scoring leader. Because of those accomplishments, many analysts and fans consider him a fixture in any all-time top-five discussion.
Still, Adebayo’s selections reflect an appreciation for some of the game’s most influential champions.
Michael Jordan’s six NBA titles and unmatched Finals record have long made him the benchmark for greatness. Kobe Bryant’s relentless competitiveness and five championships cemented his legendary status. Stephen Curry transformed basketball with his unprecedented three-point shooting, Kevin Durant remains one of the most gifted scorers the sport has ever seen, and Tim Duncan quietly built one of the greatest careers in NBA history while leading the San Antonio Spurs to five championships.
As is often the case with all-time rankings, there is no universal consensus. Adebayo’s list serves as another reminder that the GOAT debate—and the battle over who belongs in basketball’s top five—is far from settled.
One thing is certain: leaving LeBron James off the list guarantees a passionate reaction from NBA fans.
