The long and protracted Anthony Davis trade saga has thankfully reached its end. Earlier this afternoon, the New Orleans Pelicans agreed to send the suddenly disgruntled power forward to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh three first round picks, which includes this year’s no. 4 overall selection.
It was speculated that newly hired Pelicans’ head of basketball operations David Griffin wanted to get the Davis deal prior to the draft, and with this move, that he did.
The move stocks the Pelicans with young players and assets moving forward to build with, while giving the Lakers the top-end player they have been so desperately seeking to put alongside James, but with free-agency still on the horizon, there could be more molding of the Lakers’ roster on the horizon.
