The NFL fined Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams $11,941 for wearing Caddix cleats, but the footwear brand is stepping in to cover the bill.
According to Front Office Sports, Caddix’s founder , Jack Rasmussen, says Williams purchased the cleats himself and does not have an endorsement deal with the brand.
That makes the situation even more interesting: Williams was reportedly fined for wearing the footwear despite having no official partnership with the company.

Now, Caddix is covering the $11,941 penalty, turning an NFL uniform-rule violation into an unexpected moment of exposure for the brand.
For Caddix, paying the fine could be a worthwhile investment in visibility. For Williams, it means the brand is picking up the tab for a pair of cleats he bought himself.
One fine. One pair of cleats. A $11,941 bill. WHO’S RIGHT? Should the NFL be fining players for wearing unapproved cleats, or should players have more freedom to express themselves through their footwear?
