The Carmelo Anthony experience in Oklahoma City is finally at an end. That is because the former All-Star was dealt to the Atlanta Hawks in a three team trade.
The three-way swap involved the Thunder, Hawks and 76ers. Here’s how it breaks down:
The Hawks get:
F Carmelo and G/F Justin Anderson
Oklahoma City receives:
PG Dennis Schröder and G/F Timothé Lusaka-Cabarrot
Philadelphia gets:
F/C Mike Muscala
The Hawks’ plan to waive Anthony making him an unrestricted free agent.
Oklahoma City has agreed to trade Carmelo Anthony and a protected 2022 first-round pick to Atlanta for point guard Dennis Schroder and Mike Muscala, league sources tell ESPN. Anthony will be waived, and he will join team of his choice. Rockets are frontrunner.

Source close to Chris Paul tells me that CP3 is advocating for the #Rockets to acquire his good friend, Carmelo Anthony. Melo, 34, made a career-high 169 3-pointers last season on a career-high 474 attempts (35.7 percent). https://t.co/C8LT4rSpFF

It was reported by Jordan Schultz of Yahoo Sports that Anthony would go to the Lakers and play with Lebron James, however Chris Paul is pushing for the Rockets to try to acquire Melo’s services.
