Clint Capela returns to practice, expected to play against Lakers

ESPN’s Tim MacMahon reported that Houston Rockets center Clint Capela has returned and, barring any setbacks, will play against the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday. Capela has not played since January 13 , versus the Orlando Magic, after suffering an injury to his right thumb that required surgery to repair ligament damage. The team 9-6 during his absence. Joel Embiid will miss one week with knee injury

Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid will not be on the court when the team returns to post All-Star action Thursday against the Miami Heat. According to ESPN’s Tim Bontemps, the team announced that Embiid experienced soreness in his left knee that led to him getting an MRI, which fortunately revealed no structural damage. Embiid will be re-evaluated in a week and he will undergo physical therapy and load management ( whatever that means). Saturday the Oklahoma City Thunder waived guard Alex Abrines, ending his three year tenure with the ballclub.
