Hornets radio broadcaster broken off after using N-word in tweet

The Charlotte Hornets are in the market for a new radio broadcaster. Thursday the announced that John Focke had broadcasted his last game with the club. Focke had been suspended earlier in the month after using a racial slur in a now-deleted tweet about Monday’s playoff game between the Utah Jazz and Denver Nuggets, only he didn’t say “Nuggets.” He would apologize in a subsequent tweet, however with device now offering predictive text and auto correct, it is more than a fair assumption that the N-word is something that he…

Coach John Thompson Jr. passes at 78

More great news out of 2020. from ESPN: Legendary Georgetown coach John Thompson Jr., known simply as “Big John” throughout college basketball, has died at age 78. Thompson, who led Georgetown to the 1984 national championship, built the program into a juggernaut, taking the Hoyas to three Final Fours in the 1980s. His coaching legacy includes the recruitment and development of four players in Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame: Alonzo Mourning, Dikembe Mutombo, Patrick Ewing and Allen Iverson.

NBA to resume playoff Saturday

Well that didn’t last long. Apparently anti-black racism and black empowerment have been achieved over the last 48 hours. After reusing to take the court for Wednesday playoff games in protest of the shooting of Jacob Blake, which lead into games being postponed Thursday and Friday, the NBA will resume their postseason Saturday. The NBA announced the postponement of em Wednesday’s playoff games in lieu of the shooting of Jacob Blake. A release from the Association: NEW YORK — The NBA and the National Basketball Players Association today announced that in light of the Milwaukee Bucks’ decision to not take the floor today for Game 5 against the Orlando Magic, today’s three games – Bucks vs. Magic, Houston Rockets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder and Los Angeles Lakers vs. Portland Trail Blazers – have been postponed.  Game 5 of each series will be rescheduled.
