In the sign and trade that sent Jimmy Butler to the Miami Heat in exchange for Josh Richardson , it was previously reported that point guard Goran Dragic was going to Dallas, but apparently that will not be the case. The Miami Heat have acquired Jimmy Butler via a sign-and-trade with the Philadelphia 76ers , per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The Athletic and Stadium’s Shams Charania reported that the Heat sent the 76ers Josh Richardson in the deal. Goran Dragic was sent to Dallas as part the deal as well. Valanciunas opted out of a player option worth $17.6 million dollar, which would allow him to become a unrestricted free agent and negotiate a longer term deal with the Grizzlies. After being acquired from the Raptors in the Marc Gasol deal, Valanciunas posted averages of 19.9 points and 10.7 rebounds, which is a noticeable increase from his career production of 11.8 points and 8.4 rebounds per game.
